Aenos Food Services is Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec's family-owned provider of high-quality produce — and has been since 1952.
Dimitrios Kampitsis immigrated to Montreal from Greece in 1947. Five years later, in 1952, he founded the business with one truck and a commitment to three things: use only the best products, provide fast service, and keep prices competitive.
Today the family still runs it, and we still honour that founding standard with a 100% money-back guarantee on everything we sell. What began as a single truck now serves thousands of restaurants, hotels, institutions and kitchens across two provinces.
How we got here
From a dishwashing job in Montreal in 1947 to a third generation on the floor today.
- 1947 Dimitrios Kampitsis immigrates to Montreal from Greece
- 1947 Works as a dishwasher at a restaurant
- 1948 Meets the owner of a produce delivery service
- 1952 Buys his first delivery truck with a friend
- 1952 Founds the business, originally as Aenos Farms
- 1953 A third partner joins the Aenos team
- 1954 Rents the first warehouse
- 1967 Serves Expo 67 — a major milestone
- 1970 Purchases a warehouse in Point St Charles
- 1976 Serves the Montreal Olympics
- 1980 Doubles warehouse size to meet demand
- 1992 Buys out both partners
- 1992 Becomes sole owner — and a family business
- 1997 Opens a second location in Ottawa
- 2019 Faces the pandemic alongside the community
- 2020 Serves more than 5,000 homes through Covid
- 2022 The third generation starts working at Aenos
- 2022 Celebrates 25 years in Ottawa
- 2027 75 years of Aenos
Nourishing the community
Beyond the businesses we supply, we are proud to support the Heron Emergency Food Centre, providing fresh produce to families in the Ottawa area. Access to good food should not depend on circumstance, and contributing to community wellness through nutritious food remains part of how we operate.
